Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground turkey (93% lean)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup finely diced yellow onion
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 cup water or tomato sauce
- 1 lime, juiced
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
- Heat the olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the diced onion and sauté for 3 minutes until translucent.
- Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in the minced garlic and the pre-mixed seasoning. Cook for 1 minute until the spices are fragrant and toasted.
- Pour in the water (or tomato sauce) and lime juice.
- Lower the heat to medium-low and simmer for 3-5 minutes until the liquid has reduced into a thick, glossy glaze.
