Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, browned and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch or 10-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. Brown the butter in a skillet until it smells nutty and looks golden brown. In a large bowl, cream the browned butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  3. Beat in the whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  4. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined, then fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  5. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan, ensuring the edges are pushed firmly against the sides.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes until the edges are deep golden brown and the center still has a slight jiggle. Let cool completely in the pan before removing.
