Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Snap off the stem ends of the green beans, rinse thoroughly under cold water, and pat completely dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter with the olive oil over medium heat. Add slivered almonds and stir constantly until mahogany-colored gold and fragrant. Remove almonds with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the green beans. Sauté for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until bright green and crisp-tender.
  4. Reduce heat to low. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Remove pan from heat. Stir in lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Fold the toasted almonds back in and serve immediately.
